Growing Up Alone
by Melinda B.

It was like
being in a desert
no one else around
wind blowing sand

No it wasn't

It was like
drifting alone on a canoe
far away
into the sunset

No it wasn't

It was
having family
feelings
hugs touches
people who cared

But I was still alone
