Briefly Noted: IF I RULED THE WORLD, BOOK LAUNCH FOR MALAFEMMENA, & THANK YOU TO KENTUCKY ARTS COUNCIL
- Last Tuesday, we celebrated the completion of our summer Sarabande Writing Labs series at Americana Community Center. A beautiful collection of the students' writing, If I Ruled the World, is available for order now with proceeds going to support further programming! We are truly grateful to everyone who helped make this series possible: Americana Community Center, Young Poets of Louisville, Hound Dog Press, the teachers who lead writing workshops, the young writers who participated, and our generous donors. Click to learn more about how you can help bring Sarabande Writing Labs to communities in the Louisville area with traditionally fewer arts and education resources.
- Louisa Ermelino will be celebrating the launch of her anticipated collection of short stories, Malafemmena, on August 8th at 7pm, at BookCourt in Brooklyn, New York. During the event, Ermelino will be joined in conversation by Delia Ephron, author of Siracusa (Blue Rider Press, 2016). You can pre-order Malafemmena now to find out why Publishers Weekly calls it, "elemental and affecting, lingering in the mind like parables or myths sketching something vital, sad, and true."
- We're proud to announce that the Kentucky Arts Council has awarded Sarabande Books with a Kentucky Arts Partnership grant for 2017. This grant will assist us in our decades-long mission to acquire and produce high-quality books of lasting literary value. Thank you, Kentucky Arts Council, for your continued support!
