Wendy S. Walters on Sarabande + NEA

"It would not be overstatement to say that publishing with Sarabande changed my life." — Wendy S. Walters

For more than twenty years Sarabande has received generous funding from the National Endowment for the Arts in support of our publishing and educational programming. Each year, a handful of our titles receive special, earmarked funding from the NEA. In 2015 Multiply/Divide was one of those titles. Here's author Wendy S. Walters on publishing with Sarabande:

“In 2014 Sarabande Books received funding from the NEA, which allowed them to publish a number of titles, including Multiply/Divide: On the American Real and Surreal, my first book of prose in 2015. It has been my great honor to publish with Sarabande, an award-winning small press that is known for its list of broadly American writers. It would not be overstatement to say that publishing with Sarabande changed my life: it allowed me to connect with audiences around the country I would never have had the good fortune to meet on my own. Because I am a writer born and raised in the Rust Belt, I am especially proud to have my work supported by a press based in Kentucky, on shore of the Ohio River, looking out towards Indiana.”
