We're proud to announce that Sarabande Writing Labs, our signature arts education program, is the recipient of an inaugural Imagine Greater Louisville 2020 grant, thanks to Louisville Metro Government and Fund for the Arts and with funding from the Jennifer Lawrence Foundation.
"Imagine Greater Louisville 2020" seeks to cultivate arts programming in Louisville with an emphasis on accessibility, education, and inclusivity.
Now entering our fifth year of programming, Sarabande Writing Labs partners with social service organizations to provide creative writing workshops, publication, and literary events and, ultimately, to extend a platform to the Louisville's most vulnerable and traditionally silenced individuals.
Our 2018 programming is already underway. Thanks to the Imagine Greater Louisville 2020 grant, we've held a city-wide writing contest for National Youth Violence Prevention Week. And we've partnered with author and community health researcher Tasha Golden to hold biweekly writing workshops through the year for girls involved in Louisville Metro Youth Detention Services.
And there's more to come! Stay tuned for news on our upcoming partnership with Americana Community Center, writer Minda Honey, and more. Learn more about our programming and upcoming volunteer opportunities here on our website.
