As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Sarabande Books depends on the support of people who believe in our mission. With the help of our donors, we invest in emerging literary voices and serve as an educational resource locally and nationally. If you value what we do, please consider joining this diverse community of readers, writers, and lovers of literature who make our work possible.
The Sarabande Circle: Sustaining Donations
Sarabande Circle members make a five-year sustaining pledge to Sarabande. Their commitment makes possible our long-term projects and planning. To learn more about joining the Sarabande Circle, contact Kristen Miller: email@example.com.
Your contribution at any level makes a difference, from sponsoring a Sarabande Writing Lab participant to funding an entire book. Here are a few suggested donation levels and the people and projects they'll support.
Fund a Writer in the Community - $50
Your donation at this level covers the cost of one writer’s participation in Sarabande Writing Labs, a program we offer free to under-resourced communities in our hometown of Louisville, KY.
Fund a Mini Library - $125
We love putting our books into new readers' hands through the Little Free Library program. Your donation at this level stocks one Little Free Library with a year’s-worth of Sarabande titles.
Fund a Community Anthology - $200
At the end of each Sarabande Writing Labs workshop series, we give participants a beautiful collection of their own work, designed and printed by a local letterpress. A donation at this level funds one print run of these anthologies.
Fund a Young Writer - $350
Help us send an intern to a writers conference! We're so grateful to our wonderful interns and hope to aid their professional development whenever possible. A donation at this level will cover travel and registration costs for an intern to attend the Association of Writers & Writing Programs conference.
Fund a Writer in Residence - $500
Each year The Sarabande Writing Residency awards a retreat to one poet, fiction writer, or essay writer. Residents spend two to six weeks in a private cottage at Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest. A donation at this level covers the stipend that accompanies the residency.
Fund a Visiting Author - $1000
Help us bring in one of our authors to give a reading, talk, or workshop for students and the community. Your donation will help cover the cost of the event as well as transportation costs and a stipend.
Fund a Community Workshop - $1500
Your donation at this level funds an entire Sarabande Writing Labs workshop series, bringing together a qualified and enthusiastic writing teacher with eager writers in the community. This program promotes writing as a tool for individual and community transformation and celebrates writers who are letting their voices be heard for the first time.
Fund a New Sarabande Author - $2000
Each year we bring two new authors into the Sarabande family through our Kathryn A. Morton and Mary McCarthy prizes. A donation at this level will cover the cash award for one new Sarabande author. In thanks, your name will be noted on the copyright page, and you'll receive a personal, signed copy from the author.
Fund a Book - $5000
A donation at this level will fund the majority of production costs for a single full-length book. In thanks, your name will be noted on the copyright page, and you'll receive a personal, signed copy from the author.
