JOIN SARABANDE’S CONTEST PANEL — MANUSCRIPT READER

INQUIRE NOVEMBER 1 - 30

Sarabande Books is seeking manuscript readers for our 2024 contests in poetry, essay, and short fiction. Each year, submissions to Sarabande’s annual prizes are read by a rotating panel of enthusiastic and highly-qualified manuscript readers in their respective genres. 

Together, panelists will help select finalist manuscripts to be sent to our 2024 contest judges: Alexander Chee (essay), Lauren Groff (fiction), and Hanif Abdurraqib (poetry). Readers will receive manuscripts weekly during our submissions period (January and February, 2024) and will return their top 3-5 picks by March 15th with a brief reader’s report.

We are accepting readers on a rolling basis during the month of November, so we recommend inquiring early! The inquiry form should take approximately ten minutes to complete. 

Eligibility

This opportunity is open to any reader of the English language who does not and will not have a manuscript under consideration with Sarabande Books through March 15, 2024.
